Shinobi Moon Review

Fans of anime are for sure familiar with shinobi. However, these aren’t some fictional warriors but real ninjas who existed back in feudal Japan, and Realistic’s new Shinobi Moon slot takes you to join their ranks on an exciting quest for riches.

Realistic isn’t really well known for their design skills, with most of the company’s slots having that retro touch intended to evoke nostalgic feelings. With Shinobi Moon though, the team has taken a completely different approach, and the game utilizes sharp modern graphics and smooth high-end animations. From what we saw before, this is by far one of the most beautifully-crafted titles in the studio’s vast portfolio of games. Dominating the view here is a semi-transparent standard 5x4 reel setup with 20 fixed win lines. Behind it, the wallpaper image showcases a gorgeous old Japanese town with traditional Pagoda buildings and Sakura trees, and a classy Japanese soundtrack complements the atmosphere. Many would find such a look quite formulaic, but we should still pay credit to the design team for creating an outstanding outer look, graphically-wise at least.

Shinobi Moon Slot - Reel Screen

The Shinobi Moon slot can be played on any device, and players drop in by setting bets from £0.2 to £20 per spin.

Shinobi Moon Slot Gameplay

It is powered by a medium-volatile math model, meaning that wins should occur fairly often, and we also noticed this appears to be true. The sizes of possible payouts however won’t overwhelm anyone, clocking in at 4,500x the bet. Anyway, it’s pretty average when we compare it to the competition. Finally, the RTP of the game is decent at 96.14%.

As we head over to the paytable, we see 10 different regular symbols that are divided into two sections. Traditionally, the lower one is made up of classic card ranks, namely A to 10.

The premium collection, in turn, consists of four different shinobi weapons and the ninja itself, which has the highest value. The latter pays 2.5x your bet for combinations of five, while the rest is worth from 0.25x to 1.5x the bet. Additionally, shinobi symbols always appear stacked on the reels.

Shinobi Moon Slot Features

As the title hints, Moon symbols are probably the most desired out of all in the Shinobi Moon slot, as they produce bigger winning opportunities at any stage of the game. They are Wild symbols, acting as substitutes for the regulars in winning combos, plus they also play into the features.

Wild symbols are only available on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. When four Wilds appear simultaneously on those reels on any base game spin, the New Moon Respins feature comes into play.

Shinobi Moon Slot - Respins

3 Respins are awarded for reels 2-5, while reel one spins continuously until the respins end. Upon the start, the triggering Wild symbols transform into Stick & Stack Wilds, locking in their positions. If a new Wild overlaps an existing one during the respins, the Wild multiplier increases by 1x, up to a maximum of 3x. After 3 respins are complete, reel 1 stops and all wins get evaluated.

Based on our testing session, the feature tends to pop up pretty frequently.

Keep an eye for Sakura tree symbols, which are Scatters. When 3 or more appear in view on the same spin, Free Spins bonus gets activated:

  • 3 Scatter symbols - award 10 free spins.
  • 4 Scatter symbols - award 12 free spins.
  • 5 Scatter symbols - award 15 free spins.

The Free Spins of the Shinobi Moon slot operate in a similar way to the New Moon Respins covered above, but wins are paid out after every spin. Unfortunately, the bonus cannot be retriggered.

Shinobi Moon Slot - Free Spins

For players willing to skip the base game and jump straight into the free games, Shinobi Moon offers an opportunity to trigger the feature immediately for a fixed cost of 50x the total stake. However, keep in mind that the Buy Feature isn’t available in certain jurisdictions.
