Fruits of the Amazon Review

The seeds from the Guarana fruit actually look like eyes, and you get plenty of anthropomorphic plant, fruit, and mushroom eyes staring at you in this game. Pragmatic Play has created a somewhat psychedelic reskin of their popular Sugar Rush, and Fruits of the Amazon is a great alternative for players who’re tired of the overused candyland theme. All the features, as well as the math model, are identical, however, so there is nothing new to see in that regard.

Still, we found Fruits of the Amazon to be well worth checking out, and it was good fun to once again be dazzled by the engaging Spot Multiplier system. It can build up to solid base game payouts out of the blue, and the tension is taken up several notches when the Spot Multipliers only keep building in the bonus round. The 5,000x potential is Pragmatic Play’s go-to max win these days, and Fruits of the Amazon is about as solid as a reskin job can get.

Fruits of the Amazon Slot Features

You need 5 to 15+ matching symbols in a cluster anywhere on the grid to win, and a 5 symbol win awards between 0.2 and 1 x your stake. In the upper end, a 15+ symbols win lands you between 20 and 150 x your stake, and symbols must touch either vertically or horizontally to form a winning cluster. There are no wild symbols in this game, but it comes with several interesting features.

The Tumble Mechanic kicks in after each win in all stages of the game, and you will then see new and/or existing symbols drop down from above to fill the gaps left behind by the removed winning symbols.

This process repeats for as long as your winning streak lasts.

Removed winning symbols leave behind a highlighted position (a so-called Multiplier Spot), and an x2 multiplier is added if another winning symbol is removed from the same position. This position multiplier doubles for each new winning symbol that is removed from the same position after that, and it can go as high as x128 at best.

The multiplier boosts all winning clusters that appear on top of it, and multipliers will be added together before being applied if more than one is part of the same win. This is hardly unusual, since winning clusters tend to upgrade many positions with multipliers. Keep in mind, however, that all position multipliers reset between base game tumble sequences.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 scatters in the same base game tumble sequence (or on the very same spin), and this gives you 10, 12, 15, 20, or 30 free spins, respectively. You can retrigger the feature with the exact same number of scatters and extra spins awarded, and both marked and multiplier spots never reset for as long as the bonus round lasts.

On a final note, non-UK players can purchase the bonus round for 100x the stake, and this guarantees 3 to 7 triggering scatters on the spin that follows.

The 200 Spins Fruits of the Amazon Slot Experience

You get to see a lengthy tumble sequence with plenty of multiplier boosted wins just as the 3:26-minute highlights video starts.

This landed us a pretty solid payout, and then we purchase the bonus round at 1:25 into the video. We got the minimum of 10 free spins, and you can see for yourself how it all played out by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

A trip to the Amazon Jungle may look exactly like this if you eat the wrong (or should we say right) kind of mushroom you may find there. With fluorescent plants in the backdrop, and a bunch of different fruits and mushrooms staring at you on the grid, the presentation is a trip to say the least. We have to say that we prefer this presentation to the original Sugar Rush, although sweet tooth fans may disagree.

Of course, Fruits of the Amazon is a pure reskin job, which means there is nothing truly new or original to see here in terms of gameplay and features. Well, at least people on a diet now have a viable alternative, and the Multiplier Spot system is admittedly a highly entertaining and capable feature. It can lead to solid payouts in all stages of the game, and not least in the bonus round when the multiplier spots just keep growing in both numbers and multiplier size. The 5,000x potential is solid enough, and a certain crowd may prefer this over the original.
