Ultra Hold and Spin Review
Reel Kingdom is known for a somewhat generic style, and this is most definitely the case with their latest fruit creation, Ultra Hold and Spin. What makes this game interesting is the combination of a classic look with somewhat modern features. Players who enjoy the nostalgia of the brick and mortar style fruit machine will get their dues here for sure, but you also get the thrill of a Respins Money Collect feature that can land you some pretty decent payouts.
Visually, Ultra Hold and Spin looks a bit dated, although we get that this is part of the package with these types of games. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to make the game more pleasing to the eye now, would it. The flaming background changes color when the Respins feature is triggered, and that’s about it when it comes to visual effects. There is no background music in the regular base game grind, but a pretty nice 80s style soundtrack comes on when you win big or trigger the Respins feature.
It all plays out on 3 reels, 3 rows and 5 ways to win, and you can place bets between 5p and £250 per spin across all platforms and devices. The base game will serve up plenty of dead spins, at least that’s what we got in our 200 spins test session, and the volatility is on the higher end of medium here. You can win up to 500x your stake on a single respin via the special Diamond symbol, and wins up to 250x is possible in the base game. Not really a very impressive potential, and it makes it hard to justify spending too much time and money on this in a world with plenty of better alternatives.

What are the bonus features?
The wild symbol spells the word “wild” with flames in the background, and this symbol will step in for all symbols except the money symbols. This will help you form winning combos, and the wilds you land will also expand to fill the entire reel if it means it will be part of a winning combo.
There are 2 money symbols in this game, the silver coin and the gold coin. These can only land on the middle reel, and they come with random cash values between 1x and 20x attached. When you land 3 money symbols on the same spin, you trigger the Respins feature.
The triggering money symbols become sticky, and then you are granted 4 respins.
You can see your respins tally below the reels in the form of 4 hearts, and you will only land blanks or new money symbols during the feature. Your respins tally gets reset to 4 again every time you land at least one money symbol, and new money symbols that land do not become sticky.Instead, their respective cash values are added to the total, and you can also land a special diamond symbol on reels 1 and 3. This symbol can only land during the respins feature, and it comes with random values between 100x and 500x. The respins feature ends when you run out of respins, and this is the closest you’ll get to a bonus round in Ultra Hold and Spin slot.
Free spins in Ultra Hold and SpinThere is no free spins bonus round in Ultra Hold and Spin, but the respins feature is close enough. You don’t really miss a dedicated bonus round because of it, and it can be seen as a free spins feature for all intents and purposes.

The 200 Spins Ultra Hold and Spin Experience
Classic fruit slots can be fun sometimes, and especially if they come with some features that make them stick out. This is the case with Ultra Hold and Spin, and we were therefore eager to get started. You can read all about how our beginner’s luck played out here, and check out the video for highlights.
A bet level of $250 per spin is perhaps not for everyone, but we decided to max it out in our 200 spins test session. Reel Kingdom calls this a medium volatile game, but we would have to say it’s on the higher end of medium. We got a taste of how brutal the math model can be from the very start, as we kept landing a large amount of dead spins.
Out of the blue we suddenly landed 2 silver coins and 1 gold coin on the middle reel. This gave us an initial win of 17x, and the Respins feature was on. It started out good, as we landed 3 new coins on the first spin, but the feature soon dried up after that. We got only blanks for the remaining spins, but still won a total of 62x our stake.
The game called this an “epic win”, and made a big deal out of it with a melody that reminded us of a slower version of the synthpop magic in Tina Cousins “Pray”. Not long after we almost filled the screen with nothing but oranges, and this landed us a “big win” of 16x our stake.
Nothing much happened after that, although we got to see the expanding wild feature once with a smaller win. We also landed 2 lucky number 7s on reel 1 and 2, and this triggered a teaser effect on the third reel. We did not land the third 7 we needed however, so it turned into a dead spin. All in all, not the most memorable session we’ve had, and we doubt there will be another with this game.
Review Summary
We have nothing against classic 3-reelers, but they are seldom as exciting as a proper video slot. We play them sometimes for nostalgic value, and to make the return to video slots feel that much better. Ultra Hold and Spin is a decent enough effort when it comes to the bonus features, but it’s lacking in potential and punch. With this kind of volatility you expect more than a 500x max win, although the respins feature can dish out far more than that in total.
The money collection respins feature is kind of exciting, mostly because of the unpredictability of how long it will last. You really need this feature to get anywhere in this game though, as the base game max win is only 250x your stake. You can expect plenty of dead spins in our experience, and it’s not easy to see why people would prefer this game when there are plenty of better alternatives out there with a more forgiving math model.
Pros
- Expanding wild symbol
- Respins with money collect symbols
- Nostalgic value and 80s style soundtrack
Cons
- 500x potential combined with rather brutal volatility

At the time of writing, you can find 1,215 fruit slots in our catalog, so there are plenty of options out there. If you are eager to play classic slots with 3 reels, we have 236 of those in our selection. Not all of these have a fruit theme however, and below we’ll introduce you to some solid fruit slots you might wanna check out if you liked the game at hand.
Bombuster - is a very exciting 7x7 grid slot from Red Tiger, and it comes with a classic fruity theme. The game runs on a Cluster Pays engine, and you can look forward to massive chain reactions where wins up to 2,020x is possible. The main attraction is the 3 types of bombs that can land, and these will give you wilds, or destroy or transform symbols.
Ultra Burn - is quite similar to the game at hand, except for the fact that it does not come with any bonus features. Reel Kingdom is behind this game also, and it’s part of the Reel Kingdom series. It all plays out on a classic 3-reel setup, and you can win up to 500x your stake on a single spin here. The volatility is also medium to high, just like with the game at hand.
7s Deluxe - is a highly popular fruit machine that’s won the hearts of british players especially. Simplicity is the name of the game here, and you can win up to 1,250x your stake. The flaming 77 symbol can step in for the regular 77 symbol to help you form winning combos, but they pay even more if you land 3 of them alone. Not a very hard game to get into, and fans of classic slots seem to like it.
