Neon Pyramid Review
If you grew up in the ’80s, then from the instant you open Neon Pyramid, you will be transported back to your childhood. This daring slot from Inspired Gaming, sports graphics, unlike the usual slots you may be used to. It almost seems like Inspired Gaming hired some old-school Atari designers. The background of the game looks like something from the legendary video game and movie Tron. The 6x4 reel layout has a black background and is filled with eye-catching neon symbols that resemble many iconic images of the ’80s, like electronic keyboards, cassette tapes, oversized sunglasses, boomboxes, and the legendary DeLorean car that we all fell in love with from the movie, Back to the Future.
To really cement the theme, the full reel wild symbol is represented by a standing arcade machine, which is another great touch. It’s very clear that the developers were aiming for this ‘80s vibe and they have done a sterling job. Beyond all of this, Neon Pyramid boasts plenty of modern captivating features. There are 4,096 winning ways, an RTP of 95.85% and a top payout of 10,000x.

What are the bonus features?
Reel Modifiers
Neon Pyramid has a host of bonus features, the first of which is the Reel Modifiers. During the base game, at random, the blacked-out pyramid at the top the reels will animate and transform reels 3 and 4 into wilds which also offer a fantastic 3x multiplier.
Bonus Chance
During the base game, at random, if one or two Bonus symbols land on the reels and are in view, then while the remaining reels are still spinning, the blacked-out pyramid at the top the reels will animate and add double-height Bonus symbols to the reels that have not yet stopped, which increases the chances of getting more Bonus symbols once those reels land.
Free Spins
This is where the magic happens. The Free Spins bonus feature is comprised of 2 stages, with the first being the Pyramid feature which then leads to the Free Games. To activate the feature, you need 3 bonus symbols to land anywhere in view, on the reels.
From there, you enter the Pyramid feature which will determine the number of Free Spins you will be awarded. When the Pyramid feature begins, you are presented with a pyramid that has 4 levels, with each level having a different number of blocks. Depending on the number of wilds that triggered the feature is the level you will begin on in the pyramid feature and the more potential Free Spins you could be awarded. If the feature was triggered with 3 bonus symbols, you will start on the bottom level; 4 Bonus Symbols on the second level; 5 Bonus Symbols on the third level and if you were fortunate enough to land 6 Bonus symbols, then you start on the top level of the pyramid.
Each block of the pyramid holds an independent reel with numbers on it which then spin and when they stop, all values in the blocks from the level you are on, and below, are added together to determine the number of Free Spins you will be awarded. But there is even more, because depending on the level you started on, also determines the multiplier that each wild will award during the Free Spins:
- Pyramid Level 1 = 5x Wild Multiplier
- Pyramid Level 2 = 6x Wild Multiplier
- Pyramid Level 3 = 8x Wild Multiplier
- Pyramid Level 4 (top-level) = 10x Wild Multiplier, plus reel 3 or 4 will be wild reels, or possibly even both.
Once the pyramid feature completes, the Free Spins begin. The action doesn’t stop there, because you can re-trigger the Pyramid feature during the Free Spins to win even more spins if a pyramid symbol lands in view on reels 3 or 4. When this occurs, you then move up a level on the pyramid from your previous position. The blocks on your new level will then reveal the additional Free Spins which are then added to the remaining Free Spins you have left, and the Wild multiplier increases to the new level. If for whatever reason, Lady Luck was out cruising in her DeLorean and your Free Spins session was fruitless, then you will receive a 5x your wager as a consolation prize.
Spin ChanceSpin Chance is an interesting feature found in many games from Inspired Gaming.
In essence, if your balance drops below your current bet amount but is still greater than zero, you receive 1 chance to win an extra spin at the current stake amount. You can opt to play Spin Chance or select “No Thanks” and exit the game. If you go for it, you are presented with a meter and if the pointer lands on a green portion, you get the extra spin, and if it lands on red, you lose the balance. How to play
Neon Pyramid is really simple to play, although a fair amount is going on with the Pyramid feature before the Free Spins begin. While you can just set your bet and start spinning, we highly recommend opening the help file which also has the paytable to help orientate yourself or you may need to play for some time till you grasp everything this slot has to offer. To open the options and help file, select the gear icon below the spin button.
On the far left of the reels, is the bet amount option, and hitting the up or down arrows increases and decreases the bet sizes. The bet amount is the total stake per spin and there are no other configurable options.
The bet sizes range from as little as 0.20 per spin up to 25.00 per spin (bet values may vary depending on your region).Within the settings page, you will find various other options that may interest you, including your game history that shows all the spins and results from your session, an option to toggle the sound on or off, switch to left-hand play and there is also the turbo option that speeds things up. In the version we played while reviewing the slot, there was no auto-play option.
Neon PyramidAs you can tell, this slot really is as simple as - set the bet and spin.

The 200 Spins Neon Pyramid Experience
Our 200 spins test began with a few fruitless spins and some combinations not worth even mentioning, but it wasn't long before we landed the arcade machine wild symbol on reels 3 and 4, and that, in combination with the various other symbols, paid out a decent £900.
Not bad for a £1 bet.Lady Luck was certainly loving the “retro” action because it only a few spins later when 3 Bonus symbols landed and kick-started the Pyramid feature where we started on level 1. The reels in the various blocks spun into action and we ended up winning 8 Free Spins with a 5x multiplier. The first 2 spins were looking disappointing, but on the 3rd spin, the pyramid icon appeared and bumped us up to level 2. The pyramid reappeared and filled the second row with spinning values and awarded an additional 6 spins, plus increased the multiplier up 6x. However, that was all the excitement we had, because all 14 spins delivered no wins and we were awarded the measly consolation prize of 5x the bet amount. It is important to note that every player will have a different experience, so don’t let our less than stellar performance put you off trying our Neon Pyramid!
Review Summary
Neon Pyramid is a great concept and somewhat refreshing from the usual themes. The special features work well but as mentioned, our spins test was somewhat disappointing. With all the hype and extra free spins and increased levels and multipliers, we were expecting some show-stopping wins. While the developers of the game don’t mention how volatile the slot is, based on our experience, it seems like a highly volatile game. If you’re up for something different, it’s worth taking Neon Pyramid for a spin, but you will need to be patient for the payouts to come your way.
Pros
- Interesting theme
- Pyramid and Free Spins features
Cons
- High volatility
- Lower than average RTP of 95.85%
