Way of the Tiger is a medium/high volatility jungle slot from Lucksome, and it plays out on 5x4 reels with 40 paylines. The random Tiger Trails feature locks bonus scatters and scatter prize symbols in place for 2+ spins, and this can lead to solid payouts as well as the bonus round. The latter comes with enhanced scatter prizes, a jungle boost scatter prize multiplier and a 10,000x potential. Check our full review below the demo game.

Way of the Tiger (Lucksome) Review
Lucksome has chosen a familiar jungle theme for their 4th release, and the Blueprint Gaming partner has created a visually pleasing animal adventure with unique twists to otherwise common features. The 5x4 grid comes with semi-transparent reels, allowing you to fully take in the lush jungle backdrop with sunlight streaming in from an angle.
The Tiger Trails feature can trigger at random times, and it’s a paid spin hold-and-win style round which locks in place upgradable scatter prize symbols and ‘eye of the tiger’ bonus scatters. The scatter prizes are enhanced in the bonus round, which comes with 3 options, and a jungle boost multiplier also comes into play for up to 10,000x payouts. The ‘Win Focus’ is “only” 500x though, which gives you a rough idea of what to expect.

The animal premium symbols are worth between 10 and 125 x your stake when 5 land on a payline, and the Tiger is the alpha of the bunch. The Wild symbol steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations, and it holds no value of its own.

The Tiger Trail feature can trigger at random times in the base game, and it makes scatter and bonus symbols sticky for at least the next 2 spins. The scatter symbols come with bet multipliers attached, while the sticky bonus symbols may help trigger the bonus round. Landing new scatters on a Tiger Trail spin awards +1 extra spin per scatter as the new scatter (or scatters) lock in place.
The scatter draw multiplier up in the right-hand side corner indicates the bet multiplier value of the scatters that land, and it starts at x1.
The draw multiplier increments one step for each Tiger Spin with no line win, along the following trail: x2, x3, x4, x5, x8, x10 and x20 at the most. The scatter values are summed up and paid when the feature ends, and you also trigger the bonus round if you’ve accumulated 3 bonus symbols during the feature. If that’s the case, the scatter draw multiplier is carried over into the bonus round.
The Bonus Round triggers when 3 ‘eye of the tiger’ bonus symbols land anywhere in sight, and you get to choose between 3 options as follows:
- Low volatility - 9 free spins with smaller, but more frequent, wins.
- Medium volatility - 7 free spins with an x2 starting jungle boost multiplier and medium to high potential wins.
- High volatility - 5 free spins with an x3 starting jungle boost multiplier and high potential wins.
The Jungle Multiplier will boost your total scatter symbols win, and the scatter draw multiplier can be upgraded randomly between free spins. Each upgrade moves the multiplier up one tier, and the multiplier trail is enhanced during the bonus round, as follows: x2, x3, x4, x5, x8, x10, x20, x50, x100 and x500 at the most. You win +1 extra spin whenever a bonus symbol appears on reel 3 during the feature.
The Lucksome Locks feature triggers whenever you land 2 free spins symbols in view, and you can then hit the activated Lucksome Locks button above the regular spin button. This will cost you 5x your stake, but the 2 scatters are then locked in place for a spin where only free spins symbols or blanks can land.
You can repeat the process as long as you wish, or need, in order to trigger the bonus round. Finally, if you don’t feel like waiting at all, and you don’t live in the UK or other ineligible jurisdictions, you can simply take advantage of the Bonus Buy feature. This will set you back 73.4x your stake, and you are then guaranteed 3 bonus symbols on the spin that follows.
The 200 Spins Way of the Tiger Slot Experience
After landing mostly dead spins for a while, we decided to try the Lucksome Locks feature, and this helped us trigger the bonus round close to the 1-minute mark. We decided to go for the medium volatility feature with 7 starting spins and an x2 starting Jungle Boost Multiplier. You can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
Review Summary
The animal theme of this 4th Lucksome release is hardly original, but the lush jungle backdrop is certainly easy enough on the eye. The features are a mix of innovation and well-known elements, but it feels a bit strange that you have to pay for the Tiger Trail spins. The feature can turn lucrative at times though, if you manage to rack up a decent amount of scatters as the draw multiplier increases hopefully towards the x20 base game max value.
Of course, it’s an extra bonus that ‘eye of the tiger’ free spin symbols also lock in place during Tiger Spins, as this can take you into the bonus round with a beefed-up starting scatter draw multiplier. We applaud Lucksome’s transparent approach, having the most relevant stats up on the splash screen, and the 500x ‘win focus’ gives you a nice ballpark idea of what to expect. Up to 10,000x is possible via the higher volatility bonus rounds though, which is the boldest potential so far from this Blueprint partner.
Pros
- Tiger Trails scatter prize hold-and-win
- Lucksome Locks FS trigger assist for 5x price
- FS w/ 3 options and jungle boost multiplier
- Win up to 10,000x (500x “win focus”)
Cons
- Beware of adjustable RTP ranges
If you appreciate Way of the Tiger Slot you should also try:
Loki Lord of Mischief - is another interersting Lucksome release, and it’s spun around the Norse mythology trickster god.
It comes with mystery money scatters that can trigger the streak respins style Lux Reels bonus round. A super version is available also, and it comes with 3 options of volatility and a 5,500x potential (the ‘win focus’ is 500x also here though).Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild - is a popular jungle/animal slot from NetEnt, and it comes with 5x3 reels and 243 default win ways. You can look forward to a winning expansion feature, and a butterfly boost can expand up to 5 winning symbols. The bonus round allows you to pick your favorite animal from 5 options, and you can win up to 7,678x from the higher volatility options.
Legacy of the Tiger - takes you deep into the lush jungles of Asia, and this Playtech release is part of their Mega Fire Blaze Jackpots range. The bonus round comes with a middle reel filled with wilds and moon symbols, and the latter may help trigger the hold-and-win style Respins feature with jackpots up to 2,000x your stake. The overall max win is 10,000x though, just like in the game at hand.
