Feline Fury Review

We are not really sure if Play’n Go has created a masterpiece for furball lovers, or if they’ve coughed up a hairball with Feline Fury slot. One thing is for certain though, you will not find any other game out there quite like this one. This is not really your cutesy cutesy kitten themed game either, like most feline slots out there tend to be. Instead, you’re traveling back to the medieval dark ages, only in an alternative universe where cats have replaced people.

The realistic looking castle in the background makes as much sense as anything else here, including the scratch pole framed reels. Incongruent juxtaposition is used many times as a “hook” in movies and tv-series, and there is no shortage of this here. A knighted kitten in an armor made of cardboard is apparently the alpha of the pack, and the game plays out with 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 ways to win. You can place bets between 20p and £100 per spin across all platforms and devices, and this is a medium volatile game that borders on higher volatility.

The base game benefits from random feline wild transformations, as well as random “fury reels” lit on fire by burning arrows. These can turn into full wild reels, and you can even get up to 3x multiplier wild reels in this game. The medieval kittens are key to everything going on, and in the bonus round you’ll collect royal symbols to transform each cat into its alter ego wild. The 5,000x potential is solid enough, and the biggest drawback of this game is really the rather annoying cat sounds you will have to endure whenever your winnings are summed up.

What are the bonus features?

You will find 2 bonus features in the base game here. The Feline Wild feature can trigger at any given time, and this will turn all instances of 1 to 4 cat symbols into wilds. This means that you could get all 4 cat symbols as wilds on a base game spin.

Keep in mind that all versions of the wild symbol pays 10x your stake for 5 on a payline, and this makes it the most valuable symbol in the game.

Whenever the Feline Wild feature is randomly triggered, you also have a chance of triggering the Fury Reels feature. You will then see a bunch of burning arrows hitting the reels, and this will set 1 to 5 of the reels on fire. If a feline wild lands in a fire-framed reel, it will expand to cover the whole reel.

This means that you could get up to 5 wild reels here, which would lead to a massive payout. However, there is more. You can land more than one feline wild on a burning reel, and this gives you either a 2x or a 3x multiplier reel, depending on how many feline wilds you land. The multipliers will be added together (not multiplied) if more than one is part of a winning combo.

Free spins in Feline Fury

The free spins bonus round is triggered by landing a Holy Grail scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5 at the same time. This gives you 5 free spins to start out with, but getting extra spins is not all that hard in this game. You will be collecting low value card suit symbols during the feature, and you need 12 in the meter above the reels to transform a corresponding cat of the same color into a Feline Wild.

You will start with the club symbol, then move on to diamonds, hearts and finally spades.

You also get 3 extra free spins whenever you transform a cat into a feline wild, and this means that you can get up to 12 extra spins during the feature. The feline wilds that land can also trigger the Fury Reels feature, which means that you can benefit from multiplier wild reels.

You also get 1 extra free spin for every scatter you land, and there is no upper limit as to how many spins you can get this way. As you probably understand, the bonus round can be quite lucrative here, and it will many times go on for a lot longer than what the 5 initials free spins indicate.

How to play

Per usual, Play’n Go has reskinned their interface to make it blend in with the theme of the game. However, underneath it all you have the same options to play with as usual from this developer. We shall take a closer look at everything here, and give you some proper guidance on how to play Feline Fury slot.

First of all, you can check out the paytable and game info by clicking the big “i” button down to the left. This opens up 8 sets of slides for you, and you can scroll through the description of the different bonus features first.

You’ll get to the paytable on slide 5, and here you’ll see that the king’s crown wild is worth the same as all 4 feline wilds, namely 10x for 5 on a payline.

The paytable is dynamically updated according to your chosen bet level, and you will see the symbol combination values change if you adjust the bet level while in the paytable. The feline knight is the most valuable of the furballs, and pays the same as the wild symbols. You also have a merchant cat, a captain cat and a mystic cat, as well as the lower value royals.

The last slide shows you all 20 paylines illustrated, and you need to land 3 to 5 matching symbols from uttermost left to the right in order to win. The small hamburger menu icon takes you into the game settings, and here you can turn on the fast play option for increased game speed.

The turbe can also be switched on via the small lightning icon, of course, and you can also turn on/off the sound (which is a highly useful feature in this game if you cannot stand the squeaky cat sounds). Using the spacebar to spin the reels is also possible here, and the . icon opens up the game rules for you.

Finally, the time has come to set your chosen bet level between 20p and £100 per spin. The autoplay feature can be set up with between 10 and 100 autospins, or you can spin the reels manually, if you prefer that.

If you go for the autospins option, you can stop the feature automatically by setting a loss/win limit. It can also be set to stop when you hit the bonus round.

The 200 Spins Feline Fury Experience

We’ve seen some weird slot themes involving cats before, and Feline Fury is a furry oddball if we ever saw one. You have to approach a game like this with an open mind though, but it might not be your cup of tea if you’re allergic to cats, or if you’re more of a dog person. We set the bet level to £2 per spin, and threw ourselves headlong into the drama of medieval cosplay kittens.

You will see only the highlights of our 200 spins test session in the video, as we edit out the boring base game grind for the most part. We will describe our first impression of this game below, and give you a sense of what you’re getting yourself into here.

The feline wild feature was triggered, and the mystic and merchant cats were both transformed into wilds. The burning arrows hit reels 1 and 2, and they were now lit on fire as the reels came to a halt. Reel 2 landed the merchant cat, which transformed the whole reel into a wild, but we ended up winning nothing at all from this.

What followed was a somewhat lengthy session of dead spins and minute wins, before we finally landed 3 Holy Grail scatters. This triggered the bonus round, and we crossed our fingers for some furrball action with the 5 spins we were handed. We kept filling the meter on our initial spins, and luckily we landed enough scatters to keep increasing our free spins tally.

You really need to get some Feline Wilds going here, and things started to heat up once the first cat was transformed. The fury reels feature was now triggered on every spin it seemed, but we won only minute wins at first. Our first bigger win came from a full stack of wilds on a fury reel, and we now had only a few spins left to go.

Or so we thought. However, filling the meter again in the nick of time saved us with 3 extra spins, and now 2 feline wilds were active. Our wins immediately started to become more meaty, and we ended up with a total of 15 free spins that paid out a total of 48.35x our stake. Not super impressive, but still a nice enough demonstration of what lives in this unusual title.

Review Summary

Feline Fury is certainly a game that sticks out from the run-of-the-mill titles, and we can’t help but wonder what Play’n Go was thinking with this theme. The features are fun enough, but the endless squeaking choir when you win on many different paylines is just unbearable. This game is best played with the sound turned off in our view, but some people might like these effects for all we know.

The combination of wilds, wild reels and multipliers can rack up some decent payouts for sure, even in the base game. Wins up to 5,000x your stake is possible here, which is a solid potential for this kind of volatility. Of course, your chances are best in the bonus round, but you really need to transform a few cats to wilds as early as possible to get the most out of this feature. If you like oddball titles, and don’t mind squeaky cats, we’d say Feline Fury is a pretty solid game overall.

Pros

  • Random cat symbol wild transformations
  • Possibility of up to 5 wild reels with 3x multipliers
  • Free spins with cat symbol wild transformation
  • Free spins with cat symbol wild transformation

Cons

  • Annoying cat sounds when wins are summed up
  • Beware of customizable RTP ranges

OMG. Kittens - features 3 super cute and cuddly kittens named Tiger, Bubbles and Mr Whiskers. These can land fully stacked on the reels, and on reel 5 they might come with multiplier values up to 100x. There is also a bonus round with 5 free spins to win here, and plenty of multiplier action that can land you some pretty solid payouts.

I Love Kittens - is a fairly standard game really, but it comes with very cute kittens which might be the main reason to play this game. You will benefit from a wild symbol, as well as a bonus round with up to 30 free spins. Inspired Gaming is behind this medium volatile title, and you can win up to 500x your stake.

Not Enough Kittens - is a visually impressive and stylistic kittens game from Thunderkick. You’re in for some low volatility action here, but wins up to 3,650x your stake is still possible. In our view, this is among the best games out there with a feline theme, and it might even be playable for those who don’t like cats all that much.
