Arto & The 7 Deadly Spins Megaways Review

Storm Gaming has clearly allowed themselves to be inspired by the adventures of Sinbad the Sailor when creating this release, and Arto & The 7 Deadly Spins Megaways fails to impress from the get-go due to the very low 94.81 % RTP (it’s even lower for high rollers, mind you, but £10 is the most you can bet per spin anyway). The cartoonish visual style is decently done, but there is something awkward about the game pace if we’re going to be picky about it.

There are 7 different bonus round versions, each with a different expected average win, but the details around this are not clarified. We couldn’t find anything in the info section of the game at least, and the game follows the Storm Gaming Megaways recipe you might be used to from previous efforts. You get reaction wins, mystery symbols and a pick me game with cash prizes, topped off by the unlimited progressive multiplier bonus round.

Arto & The 7 Deadly Spins Megaways Features

The Wild symbol steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations, but the wild holds no value of its own. The premium symbols pay between 1.2 and 20 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and all winning symbols are removed via the Reactions feature. New and/or existing symbols will then drop down to fill the gaps, and the process repeats as long as you keep winning.

The crossed swords Mystery Symbol can appear at any given time, and all mystery symbols that land turn into a randomly chosen pay symbol. A Pick Me Game is triggered when you land 3+ genie lamps at the same time, and you’ll then pick one of the lamps to reveal and win a random cash prize.

The prize range gets better the more triggering lamps you land.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land 3+ scatters anywhere in sight, and you get 7 free spins plus 3 extra spins per extra triggering scatter above the minimum of 3. A Bonus Wheel spins before the feature starts however, and this determines what kind of bonus round you get. The available features are: Ways to Spin, Reel of Persia, Reels of Silk, Reels of Gold, Pots of Gold, Genies in Lamps and Royal Revolt.

However, the only difference between the 7 versions of the bonus round is the average payout you can expect. You also get a starting multiplier of x1, x3, x6 or x10 from the wheel, and the multiplier increases by +1 per cascading win during the feature. You can win +6 or +12 extra spins by landing 3 or 4 scatters in the top horizontal reel, respectively, and random Arto Free Spins can also trigger at any time during the base game (without triggering scatters).

You get a brief glimpse of the base game, before we trigger the bonus round with 3 scatters at 0:38 into the 2:47-minute highlights video.

We got the Royal Revolt feature, with an x3 starting multiplier, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

A release like this makes us wonder if the Storm Gaming crew exists in a sealed vacuum somewhere in the UK, having zero clues about the hundreds of Megaways engine releases they are competing against. They’ll lose any experienced punter by the insulting 94.81 % RTP alone, and it drops to 94.52 % if you’re a high roller that for some reason would want to waste your time and money on this clumsy Megaways mess.

The best thing about Arto & The 7 Deadly Spins Megaways is the cartoonish visuals, but that’s not saying much, really. The 7 bonus round versions seem pointless without detailed info about the different expected average wins, and we could hardly detect much of a difference during testing anyway. The 10,650x potential is nothing special either, and this is a good example of a game that should have never left the drawing board.

Pros

  • Reaction wins and mystery symbols
  • Pick Me Game w/ cash prizes
  • 7 FS versions w/ progressive win multiplier
  • FS can trigger at random times also
  • Win up to 10,650x your stake

Cons

  • The difference between the 7 FS rounds is unclear
  • Both 94.81 and 94.52 % RTP is deal-breaker territory

Megaways Mob - is another Storm Gaming Megaways release, and it’s built around similar core features. Set in East London in the 1960s with a cartoonish mafia theme, you get mystery symbols, reaction wins, royal symbols removal and an unlimited progressive multiplier bonus round for payouts up to 76,000x your stake.

Pirate Pays Megaways - is a highly volatile pirate-themed release from the inventors of the Megaways engine, Big Time Gaming, and the bottom sliding reel compass wild turns symbols wild in the random direction the needle points. You get a ‘deal or no deal’ style pre-bonus round feature, and you can win up to 104,400x your stake from the unlimited progressive multiplier free spins round.

10,000 Wonders 10k Ways - is an Aladdin-inspired release from ReelPlay, and it comes with 10,000 fixed win ways instead of the dynamic reels experience you get from the Megaways engine. You can look forward to cascading wins, as well as a streak respins style bonus round with jackpots up to 2,000x. The overall max win is 5,622x your stake, and the volatility is medium to high.
